AIDS Budget Funding

Posted on

The Senate Ways and Means Committee released its budget proposal yesterday. The AIDS Line Item (4512-0103) was level-funded at $32.1 million. Senator Sal DiDomenico (D-Everett), Vice- Chair of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, has agreed to file an amendment for a $2 million increase in funding, bringing funding to $34.1 million. Amendments get filed this Friday and the Senate budget debate starts next Wednesday.

We have one day (Thursday, May 15) to get cosponsors for the amendment.

Please CALL your STATE SENATOR(S) OFFICE TODAY and ask to speak to a budget aide. It’s okay to leave a message if you are unable to talk to the aide directly. Ask your state senator(s) to:

1) Sign onto the amendment filed by Senator DiDomenico to restore $ 2 million to the AIDS Line Item (4512-0103).
2) Advocate for adoption of the amendment with Senate leadership.
3) The amendment will fund HIV/hepatitis C screening, prevention, and treatment.
