Healthy eating is a key component of successful HIV-treatment. ASGCC wants to be sure that our clients have access to good nutrition. We offer a variety of food and nutrition services through both our Provincetown and our Hyannis locations. All of our food services are free to ASGCC clients.
Daily Congregate Lunch Program
Each weekday our daily meals program operates out of our Provincetown main office at 96-98 Bradford Street. Lunch is served between 11 am and 1 pm.
This “congregate” lunch program not only provides a healthy midday meal but also an important opportunity for people to socialize and have contact with others.
For people in the Provincetown area who are unable to leave their homes also deliver the daily meal. Lunch delivery is done through our volunteers. Any client who needs to have a meal delivered may request one through their Case Manager.
For many years this Provincetown community event has taken place every Tuesday evening at our Provincetown main office. Each week volunteer chefs prepare a delicious community meal for ASGCC clients. This dinner also provides an opportunity for clients to socialize and have a night out. This is particularly important in the winter months when isolation can become an issue. All clients are welcome to attend Local Flavor. Local Flavor begins at 6:30PM every Tuesday.
Food Box Program
At our Hyannis location we operate “Mimi’s Pantry” which provides food boxes to clients each month. These boxes contain enough food for people to prepare meals in their own homes for several weeks. Our food box program is entirely volunteer operated including the preparation and delivery of the boxes. Much of the food is obtained through donations through local business and with the support of Project Bread and the Greater Boston Food Bank. ASGCC clients can reserve a food box by contacting their Case Manager. Food Boxes are delivered or may be picked up on the 2nd Thursday of the month between 1PM and 3PM or on the 2nd Friday of the month between 9AM and 3PM.
Monthly Congregate Lunch
On the 3rd Wednesday of each month a lunch is prepared at the Hyannis ASGCC offices for clients to come together and socialize over a meal. Often these lunches are paired with other activities and programs. This monthly lunch is at 428 South Street in Hyannis and begins at 12:30PM on the 3rd Wednesday.
Emergency Food Pantries – Provincetown and Hyannis
Just in case a client finds themselves in sudden need of food assistance both the Provincetown and Hyannis offices also operate emergency food pantries. Clients are allowed to access these food pantries during normal business hours. Clients are asked to try to limit their visits to this service to no more than twice a month.
