Peer Support

peerASGCC’s Peer Support Program was launched as a means for the agency to offer an additional level of service and support to HIV+ people living on Cape Cod & the Islands. ASGCC’s two peer program coordinators work within the community to help connect people living with HIV with HIV/AIDS services, as well as to provide direct, one-on-one peer-led, and social support activities to clients from an HIV+ perspective.

Services offered include:

  • Emotional support and education for individuals around topics such as stigma, sexual health, HIV disclosure, and relationships.
  • Substance abuse support and counseling.
  • Medical adherence & advocacy, including support with medication management & adherence, or accompanying clients to medical appointments
  • Connection to HIV services.
  • Coordinated care with case management.
  • Connection to mental health services.
  • Peer Event coordination: creating opportunities for clients to meet with and support other HIV+ clients.
