The AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod’s Prevention & Screening Services department has recently created “UNIT10,” an expansion of its service provision in Provincetown. The creation of UNIT10, which takes its name from its location and address at 336 Commercial Street in Provincetown, is a direct response to the President’s National HIV/AIDS Strategy and addresses goals established by the NHAS as promulgated by the Massachusetts’ Department of Public Health. This initiative is consistent with MDPH Office of HIV/AIDS’ directives to promote integrated and high-impact prevention and screening services.
Through expansion and renovation, UNIT10 has doubled its space and capacity for client testing and integrated additional on-site screening services. Unit 10 offers free confidential and comprehensive testing for HIV and many other STI’s. UNIT10 continues to provide a host of harm reduction supplies to help reduce HIV/HCV/STI transmission. We will seek to continue to add new services such as “Testing Together,” counseling and testing for couples, pre and post exposure prophylaxis education as well as Comprehensive Risk Counseling Services for those at high risk of acquiring and/or transmitting HIV/HCV/STIs. UNIT10 also offers syringe access and disposal, as well as overdose education and Narcan.
Through the creation of UNIT10, ASGCC continues to increase and expand its commitment to providing culturally competent quality prevention and screening services to members of our global community who are at highest risk for HIV, HCV, and other sexually transmitted infections.
