Treatment for Lipodystrophy
June 6, 2014 Dan Gates
Here’s an update letter from GLAD and the Treat Lipodystrophy Coalition:
Dear Friends and Colleagues:
I wanted to update everyone that the bill to require private insurers and MassHealth to cover treatment for lipodystrophy has been given a favorable report by the Joint Committee on Financial Services. That is a huge hurdle and allows us to move on to the next step in the legislative process. The bill (which has a new number- H 4141) is now in the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing.
A huge thanks to our bill sponsor, Rep. Sarah Peake, and to Arline Isaacson of the Mass. Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus, for really fabulous work getting the Committee to vote on this bill so quickly after the cost analysis was issued. They are working with Health Care Financing to keep the momentum going.
We will keep you posted on further progress.
